Since 2011, a group of scholars and researchers interested in food studies, especially from a socio-cultural dimension, has been organizing the academic event, "Asia Food Study Conference" to share and exchange their knowledge as well as update food studies trends. The group has recently agreed to establish the Asian food culture network entitled "The Society of Asian Food Studies (SAFS)" in 2024.

This society aims to promote academic research in Asian food studies and enhance cultural exchanges related to food across different countries, as well as to foster cooperation among scholars and institutions both domestically and internationally.
